Paddle through Kawela Bay while you search for our 2 dozen resident sea turtles known in Hawaiian as the Honu. Your guide will take you to 4 different locations that the Honu hang out.
Please Note: There is a 2 person minimum to run the tour. If the minimum isn’t met, we will reach out to reschedule.
Your guide will stop at 9 ahu markers to kūkākūkā (talk story) about the endangered animals, birds, WWII history and Hawaiian culture specific to Turtle Bay. Between the stops you will travel through the ocean forest, along the shoreline and through the Punaho’olapa wetlands to look for over 70 species of birds including 4 endemic and 5 endangered species with provided binoculars and bird ID card.
The birding Oahu tour will finish up in Kawela Bay visiting the “Lost” banyan tree, the mysterious magic bus and finally (time permitting) stop at Kuilima Farms to sample either a local fresh or fried apple banana.
Check out a feature article that was done on Shaka Kūkākūkā in Forbes Magazine.
